The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for questions to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.
The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.
They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.
“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from above,” Slot stated.
“It would be great to change things and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”
He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”
When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:
“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”
He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”
Slot expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.
“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.
“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”
He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”
“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase of this nature with outcomes this poor.”
Jones finished, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to fight.”
“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”
“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
