Elena Rybakina Defeats Aryna Sabalenka to Secure Historic £4m Prize

Elena Rybakina claimed the greatest payday in women's tennis all time by overcoming world number one Aryna Sabalenka in two sets at the championship.
Rybakina delivered a impressive performance to defeat four-times major champion Sabalenka in two sets in the host country.
Because each competitor came through the competition undefeated, the purse on offer was a record-breaking £3.98 million – the largest payout offering in women's tennis the sport's history.
This amount surpasses the £3.74m Sabalenka received for winning September's New York major, which was the most lucrative Grand Slam in the current year.

Rybakina, who was the world number six, hit 16 winners during a dominant first-set display.
The 2022 Wimbledon winner saved two break points before winning all four points in the sixth game of the set to take the break and held her serve to win the first set.
With the second set on serve, Sabalenka saved another two opportunities at 4-4 to shift the balance in her favour.
But, after fighting back to disrupt Rybakina's rhythm, the top seed let her opponent off the hook by squandering two set points in the next game to tie the second set at five-all.
Sabalenka's failure to level the match impacted her tiebreak play, with Rybakina taking all seven points to claim the title.
This win, Rybakina's sixth over Sabalenka, means Rybakina will rise one place in the rankings to fifth in the world.
A distraught the runner-up appeared to be in tears as she met with her coaching team soon after the final.
"It was not the finest display from me today but Rybakina you were certainly the better competitor," the Belarusian told the crowd.
"You really overpowered me out of the court. I'm happy to see you at your peak. Celebrate this stunning trophy."
